New Shoot Notes

As you've seen, I recently completed my latest photoshoot. Someone wanted to know my process on getting shoot ready & what my notes are before, during and after..

First off, Louis from Bonjour Boudoir is a dream to work with! He's punctual, organized and is a pose master! He's local to NYC but has been doing some travels (luckily for me). Awhile back, I saw a location he had selected in California and really wanted to make a shoot happen, unfortunately my trip there got shuffled around so the dates didn't align. When he let me know he would be in Atlanta, I was over the moon!

I've got about 16 years of modeling and film experience under my belt now. Photoshoots for me, when I do them these days are always paid projects, it's a job for me. I know most escorts love doing many per year as a way to get the same jet setting glamour babe pro model taste since they aren't doing commercial work. For me, it's an unpaid chore. By hiring photographers specifically for escorting photos, I'm hoping to use them for my clients to see my current look and personal wardrobe. I tend to crave some creative sets included in order to feel like it's a passion project but in the end it's an administrative and marketing task for me. (My creative baby is my stage show and gothic/horror antics are what I consider fun)
Since 2015, I've made it a personal mission to only shoot with the LGBTQIA community & I have had great success with this. My current lineup with Louis and Taryn Carter has been great! Both are members of that community and both have a good eye for style plus the ability to capture all body types and skin tones. I'm sure this seems unnecessary since I am a pasty, medium bodied Caucasian cis woman, but inclusivity and the talent it requires to capture more bodies on camera beautifully goes a long way for me. I need the raw honesty an artistic queer eye, trust me!
I've never had a photographer who is a dedicated pose coach as well until this shoot. I have posed for so long with thumbs up and yes on repeat that I just fall into that routine. Lately, I've done so much that feels like work, I've been burnt out when it comes to my own projects. I didn't want to select wardrobe for myself, I didn't want to pose. Ya girl is creatively, very tired! Having Louis get me into poses I have admired in his galleries and help me into some I have in a folder on my phone was a blessing. I know now, my next shoot with Taryn I'll be having her help me too and I'll be having music to go along with the set for a better, more fun mood.
This shoot, compared to my others, was booked, planned and paid for just a few weeks out, compared to months. This felt foolish at first, reckless and gave me a little bit of anxiety honestly. However, it gave me less time to over think it too! I was thrilled that the location was included & I could see the previews to easily coordinate my looks. Bonjour Boudoir offering unlimited looks helped too (I brought a lot so I could see what worked or didn't in real life). The lighting setup was also included and the location gave many options that also felt like places I would normally host my guests & do my workouts.

I shot 6 looks for this one (the same amount as my last shoot with Taryn in fall of last year). The lingerie and gown were so sweetly sent to me by you guys, the golden Honey Birdette lingerie set was one I ordered and saved for nearly a year knowing I'd have a pro shoot this year. The tee shirt was a funny impulse buy I also saved for a shoot. I also shot a surprise set to release in November and December. One thing about me, I keep things held and patiently wait to reveal them (the film & magazine industry made me this way since I have to wait sometimes years before sharing footage, sets or print reveals that can't be leaked early). I typically source items for shoots of all kinds (personal or work) many months ahead. My last shoot had lingerie that I kept new and waiting since my trip to Marseille, France 5 years ago!
Why do a shoot at all if I love the images from last year? Well, most of those with Taryn were used for articles in Hustler. A few of those sets are now sharing a brand with mine (not a big deal) so while they are on my ads, I wanted some just for that and my own website. I've also lost probably 20 pounds since the last shots, selfies really help keep things fresh and accurate for you guys. My hair got a lot longer too. I don't tend to book professional shoots unless my looks change enough or I've got things I really want to showcase.
For this shoot, I wanted clean, open, airy spaces with an elevated feel. I love the natural lighting, very minimal retouches, non distracting, clean spaces. The open, large kitchen space, large windows and yoga terrace on the rooftop were highlights for me! I wanted "traditional escort" photography for this one. No wacky outfits, no crazy concepts, no screaming, no blood. (You're welcome haha).

I wanted delicate, soft materials that hug my figure and glide across the skin. No jewelry or heavy accessories. Minimal to no focus on footwear at all. No spray tan, no heavy cosmetics, no hair styling that isn't soft and naturally my own. Outfits that I own & enjoy for dates or might wake up next to you in. I wanted the fantasy you see online to have a lot of real and natural elements this time. My last shoot was more color rich, moody, fashion concepts, creative spaces with interesting things to look at in the sets. I love both types of photos for myself (you guys do too, I can tell). This was the first time posing, lighting and wardrobe wise that I loved 160 of 177 shots we took & I purchased the entire gallery! I think that speaks volumes & I can't wait to slowly release these. I'm hoping for such great results again in my next shoot.

For the curious ones, I am hoping to schedule another shoot, this time with Taryn in January. I'm already at the mood board for this one for a mix of winter, early spring and a very special high art one I've been dying to do for years! This one is coming so soon behind these because I have more magazine publication plans including another pin-up style cover or two. It'll be a mix for escort marketing needs I have and my mainstream fashion work too. Stay tuned!
Xoxo
Your very satisfied and refreshed girlfriend in Atlanta
