Welcome back! Cozy up if you want to read about my date last night at Marcel..
Tucked into Atlanta’s stylish West Midtown, Marcel isn’t just a steakhouse, it’s an experience that unfolds slowly (more than two hours passed to be more precise. It is perfect for those who live indulgently, and enjoy a touch of gilded age glamour.

There’s something very cinematic about arriving at Marcel. The glow of low lighting spills onto Howell Mill Road, and once inside, the mood shifts instantly. Moody candle light, dark wood, plush red banquettes, and a quiet hum of conversation create a speakeasy inspired intimacy. It really feels less like stepping into a restaurant and more like stepping into a different era, one where dinner isn’t rushed, and every detail matters.
Dinner at Marcel was not just about eating, in fact we indulged more in the cocktails & caviar pairings while we were deeply swept up in conversation. Like many things that I appreciate in this lifestyle, it was about anticipation. The menu leans heavily into classic steakhouse tradition, elevated with French and European touches.
We both enjoyed the caviar service, their famous bread is something you wouldn't think might be so special, but the pairing of prosciutto & peppers really was a game changer.
The old fashions were flowing & getting us giggly but we did eventually move on to their beef selections. Adding the au poive sauce to the mushrooms was a brilliant choice on my part, I must say. The filet madame was so perfectly seasoned and cut like butter. The potatoes were very silky & they didn't hold back on the cheese. My date selected the shrimp scampi & I did sample it with much delight! Culinary heaven, for sure.
Marcel doesn't currently have a Michelin star of their own, but they truly deserve one & I hope that they eventually get one.
Ciao for now,
Your favorite redhead foodie in Atlanta 😘
